With the new year, I have been hearing everyone discussion about goals, resolutions and intentions. This is great! But, how do we really make that happen? It is fun to dream about goals but many people forget that we have to start thinking about what we can do now to make them happen even if they seem a long ways away. Even big, big goals are achievable with enough time. This is the time to be preparing to train. Preparing? That’s right. It might sound funny, but we need the foundation and basic skills to be able to take off and do the actual specific training for an event and to minimize the risk of injury along the way.

This is the first of our series about the road to Ironman Canada. When you sign up for any big event or long distance event like an ironman often one year in advance, race day can seem so far away and yet so close that there can be a lot of anxiety building up even now. 10 months to go… It’s 10 months away. There’s plenty of time!.......Or, is there? It’s been a great summer in the Pacific Northwest. Summer may take a while to get started, but then we have long days, pleasant temps with dry weather, water sparkling everywhere and beautiful mountains surrounding us. This makes our summers magical! This is truly when the PNW is THE best no matter if you are going for a run, a long bike ride, a hike, a swim or other water fun or even just working in the garden. And then, seemingly with no warning, summer feels like it is done. Our long, long days are gone and suddenly it’s dark in the morning and way too early in the evening. What’s this wet stuff falling from the sky and what happened to the umbrella? It’s not over yet but it’s time to get ready! Fitting Fitness into your Travel and Vacation Plans
