It sounds like a dream and for one CLA athlete it was!
Anthony came to us wanting to run a faster marathon after a challenging DNF (Did Not Finish) at the Paris Marathon in 2018. Although Anthony had run a marathon 14 years prior, he had to drop out in 2018 with an injury.
After rehabbing his injury and getting over the disappointment that comes from a DNF, Anthony came to the CLA Team with the idea of training and finishing the Paris Marathon 2019 in under 4 hours. He knew he needed some help but wasn’t sure what working with a coach would be like and was afraid it would take over his whole life. Anthony bought in to coaching and reaped the rewards!
Congrats to Anthony on a fantastic PR at the 2019 Paris Marathon 14 years after his first marathon!
We train with the idea that race day will be this great and amazing day and why wouldn’t we? But, sometimes this is not the case. Sometimes it is our bodies that are not cooperating and sometimes our heads get in our own way. Sometimes things completely out of our control can become the stumbling blocks. This year the Boston Marathon proved that you can still have a great day even when conditions conspire against you.
CLA athlete Marcelo fills us in on his Boston Marathon experience. We love his can-do attitude and thoughtful approach to worst-case conditions!! We love the photos too!
CLA Team Members compete in events all over the world and this highlight takes us to Ontario, Canada.
Recently Rebecca F completed Around the Bay Road Race. This 30k (18.6 miles) road race is one of the oldest running races on the continent as it was first held in 1894!
This race takes place in Hamilton, Ontario on the shores of Lake Ontario. It’s a sneaky course in that the first 12 miles are flat and then hills kick in for the last miles. Like all of us, Rebecca was hoping to start off easy and run stronger at the finish. She wanted to practice fueling and the mental skills she has been working on.
