Keep Training If you are a runner or a hiker, a walker or cyclist, lucky you! The news is telling us all to not be inside where there are large groups of people. The great outdoors is calling and lucky for us, it is just when the weather is getting better. Let's use this as a time to explore and find some new running or hiking options or visit some of your favorites that maybe you have not seen for a while. Beyond just cardio, hiking and trails can give you a great strength workout as can the park benches and stairs at local parks. If you are a cyclist get off those trainers! We've heard that roads are empty. Time to explore! Remember, exercising isn't only good for your body but it is good for your brain. Sticking to a training routine when you may be stressed and anxious about current events can help. Even if you get out for 10-20 minutes, that can make a difference. Be FlexibleWith many working from home, kids being off from school, events cancelled and simply not wanting to go to the local gym, most people are finding that their schedule are disrupted. This is where being flexible about your workout is key. Maybe you don't have the option to get outside so instead let's figure out what you can do while at home. If you have a bike trainer, set it up. Dust off that home gym that maybe has not been used for a while and remove all the clothes that are draped over the treadmill or elliptical machine and get going! How about stairs? Most of us have those. Make a goal to go up and down a certain number of times and build on that. If your new activity of choice is not something you've been doing regularly for whatever reason, ease into the cross training. Do shorter, easier workouts as your body (muscles, tendons, joints) adjust to different movements. Remember, something is better than nothing. The Online Option Then, of course, there are a whole host of online fitness options. We can't begin to highlight them all so we will tell you about CLA's.
